چکیده

Background The amount of blood flow through the lungs is determined by pulmonary by pressure gradient as well as cardiac function in PH. Dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) enables high temporal resolution imaging to track the first transit of contrast material bolus through the pulmonary circulation. First-pass parameters such as pulmonary transit time (PTT), left ventricular (LV) full width at half maximum (FWHM), and LV time to peak (TTP) have been shown to be impaired in PAH compared to controls. Little has been reported regarding the relationship between first pass perfusion parameters in other groups of PH. Our aim was to explore the relationship between first-pass parameters and RV and LV performance in patients with group I (PAH) and group IV (chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension) PH

Evaluation of Advanced Echocardiographic Parameters of Right Ventricular in Patients with Pulmonary Hypertension

Background and Objective: Pulmonary hypertension is an increase in blood pressure of the pulmonary artery which leads to right ventricular dysfunction. Therefore, the present study aimed to compare echocardiographic parameters in the study of right ventricular failure in patients with pulmonary hypertension. Materials and Methods: In the present descriptive cross-sectional study, data were col...

MR Diagnosis of a Pulmonary Embolism: Comparison of P792 and Gd-DOTA for First-Pass Perfusion MRI and Contrast-Enhanced 3D MRA in a Rabbit Model

OBJECTIVE To compare P792 (gadomelitol, a rapid clearance blood pool MR contrast agent) with gadolinium-tetraazacyclododecanetetraacetic acid (Gd-DOTA), a standard extracellular agent, for their suitability to diagnose a pulmonary embolism (PE) during a first-pass perfusion MRI and 3D contrast-enhanced (CE) MR angiography (MRA). MATERIALS AND METHODS A perfusion MRI or CE-MRA was performed in...

Relationship of prolonged global and regional central circulatory transit time with hemodynamics

Methods Forty nine subjects undergoing clinically indicated right and left heart cardiac catheterization were prospectively recruited to undergo MRI in a 1.5T scanner. First pass perfusion using steady state free precession saturation recovery sequence was performed with gadolinium infusion at 0.01 mmol/kg. Global TT was defined as the time between the peaks of time intensity curves between the...

Functional lung MRI for regional monitoring of patients with cystic fibrosis

PURPOSE To test quantitative functional lung MRI techniques in young adults with cystic fibrosis (CF) compared to healthy volunteers and to monitor immediate treatment effects of a single inhalation of hypertonic saline in comparison to clinical routine pulmonary function tests. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixteen clinically stable CF patients and 12 healthy volunteers prospectively underwent two f...

Dynamic oxygen-enhanced MRI in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension

Introduction: Oxygen-enhanced MRI (O2-MRI) of the lung is based on the T1-shortening effect of oxygen (O2) inhalation and provides combined information about pulmonary ventilation, perfusion, and diffusion [1–9]. Dynamic O2-MRI acquires (in each pixel) the signal time course influenced by the alternating administration of room air and O2. By fitting a model function (pixelwise) to the acquired ...
